I have never heard of Blood Orange until I moved to America. They use to be really hard to find but when I finally got my hands on them I could not wait to get home to cut one open. What a piece of art. Now they have become one of my favorite fruits to photograph. They just bring so much drama to any dish or picture. They are a bit intimidating at first but once you stop staring and take your first bite you will come to find they are sweet and delicious. I had to incorporate them into my Yogurt in such a way that I could still show off their natural beauty. I made Banana Frozen Yogurt and topped it with fresh slices of Blood Orange and Cacao Nibs to add some more drama to the flavor. This one is so fast to make. If you can’t find Blood Orange just replace them with Oranges or Tangerines. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
These beauties are high in fiber and vitamin C and contains antioxidants that combat free-radical damage.
I found a few very interesting uses for them.
